Tucson Tattoo Sterilization and Aseptic Procedure.
*Our autoclave is spore tested bi monthly and every load is monitored chemically.
* We use opticide to disinfect all work surfaces. Opticide kills hepatitis in 3 minutes. * All needles are sterilized and used only once.
* The needles are disposed of in a sharps container and picked up by a medical waste disposal company.
* Tubes are put through an extensive sterilization process that begins with an enzymatic soak and ends with a complete and monitored autoclave cycle. They are in individual sterile packets.
* Once they are sterilized the tubes are kept in clean, dry, dust free drawers enclosed in their individual sterile packets.
* Our floors are medical grade non porous material that are mopped daily.
* Greg and Susan have been certified in CPR and first aid training and in Blood Born Pathogen training.
* Appropriate protective barriers are used during the tattoo process to eliminate cross contamination.
* Our ink is maintained in an aseptic environment and all ink put out for a tattoo is disposed of after each customer.
* Proper hand-washing technique is used.
* And we never worry about using "too many gloves". Several clean, new pairs of gloves are used during a tattoo - from the set up of the tattoo through out the tattoo experience and through the clean up.

Preparation for your tattoo.
When it is time for your new tattoo come well rested and eat a good meal. Make sure that if you have children you have made arrangements for them. A tattoo booth is no place for kids to hang out. You might bring one guest with you but a crowd is distracting for everyone involved. Wear comfortable clothing. Never come sick. Please communicate any special needs to your artist at the time of making your appointment. Some medical conditions could pose a problem. Please discuss these issues with your artist at the time of making your appointment. Do not get sunburned prior to your appointment!!

Tattoo Aftercare
- Take off the bandage in 2 to 12 hours. Depending on what time of day you received your tattoo, you can leave the bandage on overnight.
- As often as needed wash the tattoo thoroughly with mild soap and water. This is usually every 4 hours. Recommended soaps include Dove, Provon, Dr. Bronners, Dial. Be careful to wash away all of the blood. And pat dry with a clean towel.
- For the first 3 days you will keep a thin layer of Aquaphor on the new tattoo. This will help to protect the open skin and will actually help the skin in its initial stage of healing. Be sure that during these first 3 days you are keeping the tattoo clean and protected with the Aquaphor.
- During the first 3 days, your tattoo may try to scab. It won’t be able to if you don’t allow blood to dry on it and if you use your ointment frequently. If a scab does form, do not pick at it, but allow it to heal on its own.
- After the initial 3 days, QUIT USING THE AQUAPHOR and switch to lotion. Use lotion for about 2 weeks. We recommend Aveeno or Curel.
- Your tattoo will go through a peeling stage. This is normal. Do not pick at the peelings. The tattoo might itch during this phase. Do not scratch it!! Apply lotion and/ or slap at it lightly.
- Do not swim or soak the tattoo in water for 2 weeks. Keep it out of the sun for 2 weeks.
- Tattoo care is your responsibility. The care it receives in the first 2 weeks will affect the appearance.
- Do not shave the area for 2-3 weeks.
- Although your tattoo will appear healed in about 2 weeks, it is not completely healed for 6 weeks.
It is very important to protect your new tattoo from infection. Remember that open skin can be easily compromised. Gyms, shopping carts and all public surfaces are potentially harmful. Never touch your new tattoo with unwashed hands and do not allow others to do so.
